Bill Mogel Co-Authors Pittsburg Post-Gazette Article Concluding It is Likely Impractical for US to “Punish” Russia with Exports of Natural Gas to Europe

Bill Mogel, along with Joe Baran of Bertison-George LLC, a Pittsburgh oil and gas consulting firm, recently published an article “Can U.S. natural gas be used to punish Russia for its actions in Ukraine?” in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

They conclude that although Europe is dependent on Russian natural gas from which Russia derives substantial revenues, and the U.S. is awash in natural gas, largely because of shale gas, especially those volumes coming from the prolific Marcellus formation, at this time the US lacks sufficient approved LNG export facilities and pipeline transportation to existing LNG export facilities to make a significant difference in Europe.
