Kevin B. Belford has more than 40 years of experience handling complex association and corporate legal matters. He provided legal advice and representation to clients and industry groups on key activities and advocacy priorities. He served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the American Gas Association (AGA), a national trade association for the natural gas industry. He was also General Counsel of the AGA Laboratories and its successor, International Approval Services, which are the organizations with responsibility for research and safety certification of residential and commercial appliances and equipment. He represents clients at the Department of Justice, Department of Transportation, Department of Energy, Federal Trade Commission, Consumer Product Safety Commission and the National Transportation Safety Board.

Mr. Belford has been involved with many national energy policy issues. His responsibilities included legal matters relating to public policy; energy regulation; utility operating and engineering practices; cybersecurity; the environment; codes and standards; advertising; and insurance.

Prior to joining AGA in 1977, Mr. Belford held a number of government positions in New York, Massachusetts and Washington, D.C. He was also in private law practice and a criminal prosecutor. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctorate degree from Boston College Law School. He serves on the Boards of numerous charitable and educational organizations. He is an active member of the Bar in the District of Columbia. He is also a member of the U.S. Supreme Court Bar and various federal circuit and district courts. He served on the Executive Committee of the Association General Counsel Forum, an organization that represents the General Counsel of the largest trade and professional associations.

Mr. Belford is also a principal in a Washington-based consulting firm that represents a number of U.S. corporations, associations and non-profit organizations.
